Release Athens 2022: Photo-story day 8
The 8th day of Release Athens 2022 was full of international live acts and among them, two of the top rock stars of our era.
The hot day started off perfectly with our very own The Noise Figures, while The K’s that followed proved to everyone why they are considered one the next big things in UK’s music industry.
Just before sunset at Plateia Nerou, Sleaford Mods took to the stage, having earned a cult following in the country (rightfully so), and were a proper warm up for the two headliners of the day.
First up was Liam Gallagher with his lush group (3 guitars, female choir, bass, drums and keyboard/piano) and a set filled with all the big hits of his solo career and of course several selections from his Oasis days leading us into the festive finale with “Wonderwall” and “Champagne Supernova”.
For Iggy Pop, what more can one say? From the opening scream of “T.V. Eye” and the thunderous first half hour where we heard “I wanna be your dog”, “Lust for Life” and “The Passenger”, this great artist proved once again that when he’s on stage there is no equal, no matter how many years pass, no matter what songs he chooses to sing.
“You bring joy to my life,” he would tell us at some point, and that’s a two-way feeling, we would add.
