Release Athens 2022: Photo-story Day 7
On Thursday June 30th, we witnessed one of the best live shows we have ever hosted at Release Athens while Plateia Nerou was flooded with people on this wonderful night.
We started off with the great BobyaCottisha, followed by Mazoha’s one man show that led us with ease to the K. Bhta’s performance. Konstantinos’ set included tracks from the majority of his back catalogue, from Stereo Nova’s “Klemmeno Podilato” and “Ola pringinoun”, to the always uplifting “Kyma” and “Olo auto poupote”, in a performance that reminded everyone the great part he played, and continues to do so, in the whole electronica scene of Greece.
Next, we experienced the triumphant return of Thievery Corporationto the festival after their unforgettable performance in 2018. The party started early with “Amerimacka” and by the festive finale of “Warning Shots”, the great band filled Plateia Nerou with their diverse sound that contained equal doses of dub/reggae, downtempo and of course hip hop.
At exactly 23:00, the lights went out for the impressive Pet Shop Boys concert with the first notes of “Suburbia” coming out of the speakers. What followed is rather indescribable. The duo’s theatrical extravaganza is a unique spectacle and when it is backed by some of the greatest songs ever written, then words are superfluous.
We take a deep bow to Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe and a big thank you to each and every one of you for this wonderful experience.
