Release Athens 2024: Photo-story Day 5

On Saturday June 29th, Release Athens Festival presented a special show featuring one of the country’s few true rock stars and two special guests.

Gus G.’s band took the stage at Plateia Nerou shortly after 7.30pm and we all had the chance to see for ourselves why Kostas Karamitroydis is considered a virtuoso. The great guitarist from Thessaloniki, who has played alongside the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, was captivating, and the same can be said when the other guest, Ronnie Romero, took the stage. The Chilean singer and for years the voice of Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow was impressive, especially when it came to singing the classic songs of the legendary band.

Then it was time for the voice of Greek rock, the legendary Vassilis Papakonstantinou, who presented a wonderful set with some of the greatest songs in Greek history. “Xairetismata”, “Koursaros”, “Sfentona”, “Fovamai”, “Prin To Telow” and countless other iconic songs filled Plateia Nerou with smiles that non-singalong. 

Release Athens 2024 continues on Saturday July 6th at Technopolis City of Athens, with Cannons in their first performance in Greece.
