Release Athens X SNF Nostos: Photo-story Day 2
The second day of Release Athens X SNF Nostos, with the most diverse lineup of this year’s edition of the festival, was another beautiful night of music for every taste.
Groundation kicked off the day at the SNFCC Great Lawn, in a special performance as the group celebrated twenty years since the release of their classic reggae album “Hebron Gate”. Shortly afterwards, Mikro took the stage at Plateia Nerou with a stunning show that ended with a sing-along to the powerful “Ayti H Poli”.
Those who chose to continue their day at SNFCC Great Lawn, first enjoyed the always delightful Dub Inc. and then were lucky enough to see Tash Sultana’s first performance in Greece, in a show that had everything: reggae, pop/rock, soul etc. The epic finale was to be expected, with ‘Jungle’ being a huge highlight of the night.
Meanwhile, at Plateia Nerou, the legendary Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark returned to Athens after a 16-year absence to remind us why they are considered one of the most innovative synth-pop bands of all time, while Anthony Gonzalez’s M83 gave a performance that will end up on the list of this summer’s top shows.
Röyksopp closed the night and made it clear from the start, with a great rendition of ‘Impossible’, why they called this “True Electric”. For about 90 minutes, the Norwegians played an electrifying dance set and, together with a delightful laser show, made everyone at Plateia Nerou, dance their socks off!
Release Athens continues on Friday, June 23rd, with the third and final day of Release Athens X SNF Nostos featuring Siouxsie, Interpol, Echo & The Bunnymen, Viagra Boys, The Haunted Youth και In Trance 95.
