Release Athens 2022: Photo-story day 9
The ninth day of Release Athens 2022 was all about the “heavy sound” and we had the pleasure to watch 3 great acts that have left their indelible mark on the world music scene for many decades.
The day, of course, started with an excellent local group, Black Soul Horde, in a performance that confirmed their reputation as a highly skilled band that is at the peak of their career. The torch was passed to the supergroup of Dead Daisies, led by Glenn “The Voice of Rock” Hughes, who proved once again that he is a unique performer who has not lost his momentum after so many years in the scene. A big highlight was the Dead Daisies’ new single, “Radiance”, and of course two of the songs he co-wrote with Deep Purple, “Mistreated” and especially “Burn”, which was a perfect way to close their show, with an epic singalong from the thousands of fans that came early to see them live.
Dani Filth and his band then took to the stage for an excellent and dark show of “extreme” metal. Cradle of Filth put on a sweeping show with excellent selections from their extensive catalogue and an unforgettable finale with one of their masterpieces, “Her Ghost in the Fog”.
At 22:30 the intro of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” was heard from the speakers of Plateia Nerou, which was the signal for the living legends of metal, Judas Priest, to take the stage. This unsurpassed group, gave us a great performance filled with their greatest songs that ended with the party we experienced in “Living after Midnight”.
Next, on Tuesday, July 19, we have Clutch, The Hellacopters, Blues Pills, Dead Radio and ADAM.
